What to do when you get to Reggie Lewis

Location/Parking: Musicians should head to the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center (RLTAC) at 1350 Tremont St., Boston, MA 02120. RLTAC is near the Roxbury Crossing T stop, or you can park at either street parking in the area or at the designated lots from Roxbury Community College on Centre St. (see video). Enter through the main doors at the corner of Malcolm X Blvd and Tremont St. Upon entering, let staff know you are there to play. Sanitize your hands, answer the brief health assessment, and swap your facemask for a new one (provided by RLTAC). At that point, proceed through the doors and turn right, following the track to the large open area. You should see the BHM banner near the middle of the observation area; if you need help ask staff. You can find a walk-through video with all relevant details on this page.

Safety protocols: We have worked with RLTAC to provide a safe environment for all. In addition to the entrance protocols and screening for symptoms, musicians will be socially distanced from patients and staff and are required to wear a mask at all times.

Timing: As part of safety protocols, please plan to finish your set around 10 minutes before the hour to allow for a safe transition.

Repertoire: Music selections should be soothing, providing a means to relax patients who may be anxious. We have been specifically asked to avoid singing and wind instruments. Small amplified instruments are acceptable so long as you keep the volume at a reasonable level and notify RLTAC staff that you plan to bring amplification so they can prepare extension chrods.

What to bring/wear: Be sure to bring a music stand with you! RLTAC will have chairs available; please give them a quick wipe after use. We encourage you to wear blue and yellow (Boston Hope colors) if you have them; if not, please wear a solid color top and black pants.
