Why We Sing 2020 RECAP – A Community Celebration of International Women’s Day Through Music
“Why We Sing” invites women from all over Boston to join the Women's Chorus, Boston's most vulnerable singing together, in a day centered on music making and community building honoring the accomplishments of women in the Greater Boston Community. A team of professional musicians, teachers & community builders will lead the group in activities that include the creation of a new song, team building, and a group art project to commemorate the day.
The Women’s Chorus (TWC) is a Boston-based chorus that connects self-identifying women experiencing homelessness or poverty with the healing power of music.
Since its launch in September 2018 by David McCue and Kristo Kondakçi, TWC has engaged more than 100 of Boston’s most vulnerable women from diverse backgrounds with an age span of 17 to 82. TWC serves as both a cultural home and a community, providing an opportunity for all who join to build self-esteem through making music together.
